series of 28 etchings each print on white Hahnemühle paper: 30 x 40 cm, 2003-2005

The origin of this work is a reflection on research in genetic engineering. The shape is chosen in analogy to Petri dishes, and to minuscule museum specimens of freshwater jellyfish enclosed in acryllic disks, and found at a fleamarket in San Francisco. The etchings are based on mixing and modifying images of human neurons, roots, plants and other cells, as well as my own drawings.
